Consensus Mediation

Consensus Mediation is owned and run by Mary Rafferty, who is based in Mohill, Co Leitrim, Ireland. In private practice since 2006, Mary brings her experience from two previous professional careers – education and social work – to a field she is passionate about – helping people to find ways towards greater harmony in their relationships at work, and ultimately better peace of mind.

An accredited Practitioner Mediator with the Mediators Insitute Ireland, and consultant mediator to one of Ireland’s largest employee assistance agencies – Carecall in Belfast, Mary has over three hundred hours of mediation experience from a wide range of organisations, both public and private sector.

Always interested in working closely with people Mary spent ten years teaching both children and adults – eight of these in Germany. Her desire to bring change and improvement to people’s lives drew her into another ten year span in social work, five of which were as manager in a child protection team. A chance offer of a place on a basic mediation course however,  whet her appetite to work full-time to bring the skills, knowlege and attitudes of conflict resolution to improving people’s lives. This she now does through the tools of coaching, training, facilitation and of course mediation.

As well as her mediation training, Mary is certified in the Cinergy Model of Conflict Coaching, an innovative one-to-one intervention aimed at empowering people to resolve their own conflict issues. Mary has also authored ‘Managing Conflict’ a CPD course for the Open University in the UK. Mary is a Director of the Mediators Institute Ireland and Chairperson of their Education and Training and Conference Committee.
