Mediation Mentoring
Mediation by a manager or HR manager can often be the best option to support two parties to resolve a conflict in the workplace. This is because, first of all, it is likely to be much more immediate than bringing in an external person so the matter has less time and chance to escalate. Secondly, if the mediating manager has the parties trust in terms of their impartiality to both the issues in dispute and the parties themselves, then they often feel more comfortable with someone they know from the company rather than ‘bringing in an outsider’.
If you are in a situation where an issue has arisen between two employees and you would like to sit down with them and help them sort it out, but you need some guidance or mentoring around how best to do this, then why not avail of a Mediation Mentoring session.
During this session we will cover:
- Clarifying the goals and working out clear parameters around the mediation meeting for you as mediating manager and how this fits into the context of your role as HR manager or line manager in the organisation
- Talking through how you will manage parties’ expectations and/or concerns about participating in such a session.
- Outlining a structure for the mediation session – the key stages and skills for each stage
- Exploring key challenges you consider might arise for you during the meeting and they you might best be managed
